What we store
Cookies
Two analytics cookies, set only if you accept them. No advertising, no profiling, no sharing.
The short version
We run Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read. Nothing is stored on your device until you accept it. We do not run advertising cookies, we do not run profiling or remarketing, and we do not sell or share anything with data brokers.
If you decline, analytics runs in a cookieless mode that counts a page view without identifying you or writing anything to your browser. The site works identically either way.
In detail
What gets set, and when
Set only after you accept
- _ga, Google Analytics. Distinguishes one browser from another so a returning reader is not counted twice. Expires after 2 years.
- _ga_G-LZNFYTH072, Google Analytics. Keeps session state so a visit that spans several pages counts as one visit. Expires after 2 years.
Set regardless, because the site cannot work without it
- dc-consent, stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie.
Holds one word,
grantedordenied, so we do not ask you again on every page. Never leaves your browser and is never sent to us.
Loaded from other domains
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) serves the typeface. Sets no cookies, but your browser's request reaches Google's servers.
- Google Tag Manager (googletagmanager.com) delivers the analytics script itself. Sets no cookies of its own.
That is the complete list. If it ever changes, this page changes with it and the banner reappears.
Elsewhere
Controlling this yourself
Your browser can block or clear cookies for this site independently of the choice you make here, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics everywhere. Either will override anything set on this page.
